CyberRack SideCooler - Efficient cooling for high-density loads

STULZ, the global based mission critical air conditioning specialist, has announced the availability of its innovative CyberRack SideCooler. Precision engineered to meet the cooling demands of data centers in space constrained or remote locations with major benefits for edge add micro data centers. This closed loop water cooled unit is ideal for environments with higher heat loads, where efficient air conditioning is essential for optimal operation and uptime.
The CyberRack SideCooler has been designed with flexibility at its core. It can be seamlessly integrated between server racks or within a micro data center, delivering efficient cooling directly at the heat source. Its compact footprint maximizes space efficiency, while front and rear service access points simplify maintenance work. Additionally, the use of hot-swappable fans enables quick, safe replacement without interrupting operations.
"The growth of high performance computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning at the edge has significantly increased server power density, resulting in substantial heat generation," explained Matteo Foroni, product manager at STULZ S.p.A. "Space within these environments is often restricted, so we’ve designed the CyberRack SideCooler to provide maximum cooling capacity with minimal footprint. It is also compatible with racks from all manufacturers and can facilitate various airflow concepts, while its high reliability components ensure a long service life and continuous 24/7 operation."

Mitigating the need for hot and cold aisle separation, the CyberRack SideCooler delivers cooling capacity in a closed loop server rack. It utilizes three horizontal zones to deliver optimal air supply, consistently maintaining the required airflow and supply air temperature. This prevents the formation of hotspots without creating energy intensive oversupply. By targeting cooling directly in the rack itself, high water temperatures are possible alongside the extended use of free cooling. For the most efficient operation it can be used in combination with the STULZ CyberCool Explorer WS chiller.
To minimize environmental impact, STULZ has made the CyberRack SideCooler highly energy efficient thanks to intelligent control and electronically commutated (EC) fan and motor technology with low noise emissions. This complements an advanced control system with optional touchscreen display that enables intuitive operation with a clear menu structure. Seamless integration into an existing building management system interface is also possible, while features such as a warning and alarm systems provides operational reliability. By ensuring that software, hardware and air conditioning units are perfectly harmonized, all interconnected systems are simple to monitor and control.
Matteo Foroni concluded, "Edge and micro data centers come with their own set of challenges, especially when it comes to cooling and managing varying thermal loads. This is why we’ve pushed the boundaries once again with the CyberRack SideCooler – a next generation climate control solution that’s as robust, flexible and versatile as it is energy efficient. Built specifically to handle high heat loads, it offers exceptional functionality, making it the perfect choice for edge and micro data center deployments."
